Some applications use its resources incorrectly that may cause
DefencePlus protection system misoperation. According this
DefencePlus has a flexible mechanism of protection that
ranges protection by low, medium, high, and ultra levels.
-
"Low" level allows all application
work as usual. Stack (thread local storage) and heap (local storage of
the process area) are not protected from attacks at all.
-
"Medium" level allows misoperations of
the DefencePlus that can be caused by applications which either
use stack incorrectly or have an internal errors when working with
heap. Stack and of heap has standard level of protection which is quite
enough to protect from exploits.
-
"High" level allows misoperations of
the DefencePlus that can be caused by applications which either
use stack incorrectly or have an internal errors when working with
heap. Stack is protected totally and heap is protection good (standard
level of protection and some additional protective features).
-
"Ultra" level allows misoperations DefencePlus
that can be caused by applications which either use stack incorrectly
have internal errors when working with heap or working with heap
incorrectly. Stack is protected totally and heap is protected totally.
Protection level changes takes effect only with new
application instances. For example you have launched Microsoft Notepad
and it has a "High" protection level. Than you change Microsoft
Notepad protection level to "Ultra". All "new"
instances of Microsoft Notepad will have "Ultra" protection
level. But Microsoft Notepad instance that is currently running still
has "High" protection level.
