DefenseWall Personal Firewall automatically blocks open listening ports of all the
Trusted processes. So, if you have an application that requires ports to be open, you just
set it as Untrusted and that's it. The reason is simple - if this application has a
vulnerability and that vulnerability was exploited, the sandbox protection offered by
Defensewall will ensure that the exploit cannot affect your system. If a computer is
within a domain, DefenseWall automatically opens ports 445, 135, 137, 138, 139. This
innovative "Adaptive Automatic Protection", allows
you to forget about ports setup.
Inbound protection also allows for the use of "Profiles". To use an Inbound profile
select Inbound from the Firewall Tab.
The following corresponds to the selections in the Inbound list:
Direct Internet Connection Profile - For computers connected directly to the internet.
Wireless Internet Connection Profile - For computers connected to the internet
through a wireless router or hub.
Home/Work LAN Connection Profile - For computers connected to one and other
through LAN.
To exclude a port from the list with Manual Protection, select Add
Port to add the
port to the exclusion list or Remove Port to remove the port from the exclusion list.
